Nakagusuku Castle Ruins - Projection mapping that colors the fantasy night
At the ruins of Nakagusuku Castle, a world heritage site completed by Gosamaru, a castle-building genius who was at the mercy of the times, we will perform G. Puccini's masterpiece ``La Bohème,'' which depicts the tragic love of a young man at the mercy of the times. We invited world-famous opera singer John Ken Nuzzo to play the role of Rodolfo, bringing together a group of singers representing Okinawa and singers active in Japan and abroad, and the conductor, Daikatsu, who has served as music director at opera theaters overseas. This is a fusion of dynamic outdoor opera performed by Hideya and the Ryukyu Symphony Orchestra.
We are also exposed to the turmoil of the times, such as the coronavirus and the international situation, and the drama of young people living with faith and love in turbulent times will be watched in a magnificent location of a world heritage site. It is a one-of-a-kind festival where you can experience the combination of food, Ryukyu culture, and Western culture with all five senses, with kitchen trucks set up at the venue and bento boxes made with local ingredients from the prefecture.
Paris around 1830. On a bitterly cold Christmas Eve, young bohemian artists Marcello, a painter, and Rodolfo, a poet, try to work together, but things go awry. The musician Schonard and the philosopher Corrine join them, and the four young men are poor but rich in spirit and have high ideals and are having fun. Since it was Christmas, Marcello, Schaunard, and Corrine went to Café Momus first to eat outside, while the poet Rodolfo remained alone in his room. Then her neighbor Mimi, a seamstress, shows up to borrow a candle, and the two meet and immediately fall in love. Marcello, one of the foursome, also reunites with his ex-girlfriend Musetta at Café Momus and their love is rekindled.
Two months later, on a cold, snowy night, Mimi comes to the mountain hut where Rodolfo and Marcello are staying, feeling uneasy about her love for Rodolfo, and comes to consult Marcello. On the other hand, Rodolfo is unable to save Mimi, who suffers from his chest pain, due to his own poverty. He had advised Marcello that it would be better for her to break up with him. Mimi, who secretly overhears their conversation, is shocked and decides to break up with him in the spring, even though she is annoyed by her hair. Marcello can't stand Musetta's flirtatiousness anymore and breaks up with her on the spot.
At the end of the film, four young people are gathered in the attic as before. Musetta brings a weakened Mimi to Rodolfo and Marcello, who are heartbroken after breaking up with their girlfriend. Mimi wished that she could see Rodolfo one more time before the flame of her life went out. The two of them talk about their memories, remembering the passionate love they had that day in the cold attic, but time cannot wait for them. Mimi quietly takes her last breath as her friends watch.
